“Set sail to different horizons with books, shed light on your mind!” As the Two East Two West International Student Association, we want to bring together our students from different cultures to ignite their passion for reading and develop their critical thinking skills. In our reading groups that we will organize under 4 different titles, you will set sail to new horizons by reading books and negotiating on a monthly basis; you will be able to gain different perspectives and express your own voice freely. There will be surprise awards at the end of the activity for our students who attend our reading groups regularly and fulfill the requirements of the program. Information about these reading groups is as follows:
1. OUR PIONEERS READING GROUP Would you like to meet the works of the pioneers of ideas and movements that changed the course of history and opened horizons to our world of thought? In the Our Pioneers Reading Group, we will read the life stories of 10 different pioneers of ideas and movements, from Aliya Izetbegovic to Mehmet Akif Ersoy; from Hasan El Benna to Malcolm X, together, discuss them in depth and enrich our own world of thought. This reading group is open to the participation of all our international students, both undergraduate and graduate. 2. INTERDISCIPLINARY READING GROUP Do you like reading works that bring together different disciplines instead of focusing on a single field? In our Interdisciplinary Reading Group; by bringing together works from different fields such as religion, literature, history, science, philosophy and art, we will gain a more holistic perspective and discover the connections between different disciplines. This reading group is open to the participation of our international and Turkish postgraduate students.
3. OUR BEAUTIFUL TURKISH READING GROUP Would you like to discover the richness and power of Turkish and increase your language awareness? In our Beautiful Turkish Reading Group, we will learn the subtleties of the language by reading a wide range of works from classical Turkish literature to contemporary Turkish writers, such as poems, stories, etc. At the same time, we will work on developing our correct language use, effective communication and writing skills. This reading group is open to all international students who think they have deficiencies in Turkish and want to improve themselves. 4. OUR DAVAM BOOK READING GROUP Are you interested in politics? Are you sensitive to social problems? Do you want to fight for a more just and livable world? In this reading group, where we will read Prof. Dr. Necmeddin Erbakan's Davam Book, we will examine the views of our teacher, which he calls the Just Order, and witness his life and struggle closely. This reading group is open to all our international and Turkish students. Important Note: A student can join more than one reading group, provided that they attend regularly. The books will be provided free of charge by our association. Our only condition is to read the books regularly and to participate in the discussions regularly.
