Two East Two West International Student Association held its 2024-2025 Activity Period Opening Program. The program explained the activities for students from all over the world and the events to be held in the new term.
The Two East Two West International Student Association held its 2024-2025 Activity Period Opening Program. The program held at Karatay Municipality Aziziye Cultural Center was attended by UDEF (International Student Associations Federation) Board Member Hanefi Sinan, Konya NGO Platform President Adem Ceylan, Eğitim Bir-Sen Konya Branch 2 President Halil İbrahim Çelik, HAK-İŞ Konya Provincial President Hüseyin Keçeci, Hayra Hizmet Foundation President Mustafa Varol, Konya Technical University Student Affairs Department Branch Manager Ali Gezen, Güldalı Association President Bekir Tanoğlu, Aden Education Solidarity and Aid Association President Hamide Baloğlu, Two East Two West International Student Association President Murat Arslan, the association's new president Muhammet İkbal Şenol and Board Members, Women's Commission President Merve Betül Arslan, association volunteers and international students.
The program, which started with the national anthem, continued with the Quran recitation.
The opening speech of the program was made by Two East Two West International Student Association President Murat Arslan. Murat Arslan, who started his speech by stating that they started international student work in Konya in 2010, said, “We took care of our guest students who came to Konya to study together with our team working voluntarily. We carried out work for the youth of the Ummah. During this process, we met and became brothers with thousands of our brothers. We graduated thousands of them. We shared sorrows and joys together. Why did we set our hearts on this work? We want the world to be a fair place. A handful of Zionists continue their massacres. They oppress our brothers in Arakan. We are going to another country. The exploitation system continues in that country. The world is not a fair place right now. We want the world to be a fair place. We are working towards this goal. We will continue to work.” Speaking on behalf of the students, Taloutou Yari Dramane from Benin thanked the Two East Two West International Student Association for their work and hosting the guest students. Taloutou Yari Dramane said, “I work day and night to receive a quality education that will meet the needs of the age and to be beneficial to my own country and all of humanity. During my stay here, I experienced minor difficulties of being in a different country. But I never felt alone. This happened first by the grace of God and then by the hospitality of the Turkish nation. I would like to thank the Two East Two West International Student Associations, which embraced me during my stay in Konya.” he said. UDEF (Federation of International Student Associations) Board Member and also the President of Ankara Asma Köprü International Student Association Hanefi Sinan provided information about the work of the associations affiliated with UDEF. Hanefi Sinan said, “There is more than 6.5 million international student mobility worldwide. Only 4.5% of this is studying in Turkey. There are around 350 thousand international students in our country. We have 63 international student associations in different cities of Turkey. We also have representatives in cities where there are no associations. We provide not only accommodation, health, etc. services to our guest students, but also legal and administrative support. In this context, we have also contributed to the mental transformation in Turkey.” Konya NGO Platform President Adem Ceylan noted that İki Doğu İki Batı UÖD has carried out important work and thanked everyone who contributed to the work. Ceylan, who gave advice to students, said, “We should provide added value to the countries we go to after graduating from our universities. We should carry an ideal that will bring the honor of Islam and justice to Muslims to whichever part of the world we live in, and the determination, ideal, and added value that will carry the consciousness of brotherhood. Each of you is responsible for this work, code yourself as a volunteer.” The new president of İki Doğu İki Batı International Student Association, Muhammet İkbal Şenol, said, “We believe that we are trying to fulfill the responsibility of being a part of this ummah while taking part in the guest student work. We will continue the social activities and events, especially the educational work we have done for our students, with all our might in the new period.”
